Practice Ideas

Hey everyone,

This thread is just to put out there some practice drills and ideas we can use. Post Any ideas you may have!

I personally think for this practice we should focus on

1) Off the break lane shooting; None of us are getting our guns up fast enough AND on line, with the field layout at Nationals this will be a huge benefit if we can take a G or 2 off the break

How: Well its muddy as a tar pit outside and the the indoor is short, but if we can, we should have people running to the corner and someone throwing up a lane to that corner.

2)Running N Gunning: HUGE if your good at it, we need to practice up on this for the guys running to the corners! But you gotta be fast, its a waste of time to do this and get killed for being slow

How: Put a person in back center(perhaps practicing Lane Shooting) and send a runner to the corner to shoot at him, gun control, speed, and more speed are important here.

3) For Corner PLayers mostly: GETTING TO THAT CORNER AND GAINING CONTROL IF IT, you should be dominating that corner if you get there first, your gun should be up and shooting as soon as you get there, no waiting.

How: Mirror corners sprint to their corner and both try and dominate, this isnt snap shooting, its getting there and machine gunning down the tape to win control

As far as the whole paint thing goes... i cant promise that i can get this but i can prolly get cryptic at 20-25 a case. Also we need to think long term as well. does anyone really think the club is going to make it down the line if we really have to drive 2-4 hrs eveyother weekend? We can barely get our asses to practice by 11 and thats only 20 min away. I'm not tryin to start anything or be an ass but i just cant see us making it as a team or club if we dont start getting our shit together

I know mike pretty well, ill c if i can talk it over with him and c what he says, in th elong run it would probably be much cheaper to stay at mikes and pay a little more especially when its nice enough outside to use the x-ball feild. i think its worth a shot, and the bottom line of it all is that if you look at the club as a whole, we are a bunch of lazy bastards. if we could get half the team up off their ass we could really accomplish something. joe the other day when we knocked on ur door when we were doing fundraising.....i said it was a slow day, i ended up grossing 60 bones that day, for a little less than 2 hours of work. the club is (as it aleways has been) what you put into it, and right now not many people are putting in very much, something is going to have to change or we are in for some shit down the road.

The problem with that is I see mike wanting money for using his products ( i.e. Land and field) so on top of paying for the insurance, somehow providing our own paint( we have no paint connections as of right now, Chronic would take a little while to get here) he would probably want like 20 dollars for use of his stuff, so I mean it would be nice but I dont see Mike wanting to do that. We should talk to him about it though for sure, I for one would love to be able to practice every weekend. We are just in a bind right now and we will have to sack up and see what happens, it is going to be time consuming, hard, and expensive, and those who have the drive to want to play will manage it by getting a job or winning the lottery. Those who dont will not be able to, its part of this sport unfortunately and being college students makes it that much harder.

Bottom Line to everyone, this is going to much harder than easier b/c the way the industry is right now, Ohio weather makes it much harder to run a field ( not that it is a profitable business to begin with.) SO, get used to paying more and traveling further cause I dont see it changing for some time right now.

This is a dumb problem to have. with that said it is a problem, i really dont see why we cant just pay for six months of insurance at mike's. we roster over twenty ppl if you do the math thats at most 30 per person if it is the $600 that brice had said it was. first off practicing every other week is super shitty, and even if we go to the closest outdoor field roughly 2 1/2 hrs away we are going to wind up playing every other weekend, and we will also wind up paying more in gass than we would to pay for the insurance. also we wont have to pay 55 for a case. we can pay ten dollars every week to mike per person for entry and then bring our own paint. he wouldnt bepaying for insurance so this is a decnt idea even if he isnt trying to run a business anymore because all he would be doing is providing land and the field.

OK before everyone gets their dangles in a tangle about the roster, this was just filled in to be modified, it is not final, no need to call a team vote and what not. The officers will have a meeting about line, who is playing, etc. ALSO WHOEVER WROTE THE COMMENT CONCERNING ONE INDIVIDUAL PLAYER, SHUT UP.THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE WILL TAKE ALL THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. REGARDLESS THIS PERSON IS YOUR TEAMMATE, SO IF YOU DO HAVE A PROBLEM TAKE IT TO HIS FACE AND DON'T BE AN INTERNET HARDASS AND TALK ABOUT IT. I DIDN'T MAKE THE WEBSITE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.

I dont think that anyone needs to be removed from the active players list, anyone can play in 5-man tourneys, but if somone wants to be on the x-ball team they have to put in more effort than you are describing.

While you’re at it: there is still at least one individual on the active players list that has been to practice once this quarter, was late, and didn’t play. This individual has only been to one community service/fundraiser this quarter, and the one he did show up to last quarter he was 6 hours late. This individual clearly shows no commitment to the team or its financial situation and should be removed from the active players list. I have no problems with this guy on a personal level. I just feel that he turned his back on us for a while before his other social organization lost their charter, but now that they are no longer he wants to come back. I have no problem with him coming back at all, the only problem is that the club has radically changed since he left, and if he and anyone else wants to be on this team they need to be conscious of the commitment that they have to make to the team. Gone are the days of showing up every once and a while and getting to play; Fundraising, community service, and practice should come above everything social that is going on that day. Thus far this individual has not displayed these qualities and as I see it is unfit for this team….I am sure that there are plenty on the team that feel it unfair that they pull his portion of the weight.
